The Alder Group wins prestigious Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Award

The Alder Group is proud to have been recognized by the greater Ottawa business community as both a finalist and bronze medal award winner in the Small Business of the Year category at the 2005 Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Awards. Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada (CCAC) Conference

The Alder Group was pleased to provide the CCAC with strategic event planning and facilitation services for the

2007 Canadian Colorectal Roundtable held in Montreal

March 28-30, 2007.

The first event of its kind to be held in Canada, this high-profile meeting will help with the ongoing battle against colorectal cancer, a highly treatable and curable disease when detected early.

“These are the projects that help define what The Alder Group is all about,” says Alder Group CEO Jean-Marc Dupont, who recently attended CCAC’s annual Parliamentary Breakfast on the Hill. “The work of the CCAC will help ensure both access to treatment and screening issues are front and centre in the minds of federal and provincial policy makers.”

Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport (CAAWS)

The Alder Group has been selected to carry out the review and redevelopment of the acclaimed CAAWS resource Evening the Odds: Tobacco, Physical Activity, and Adolescent Women.

This important project involves a literature review, key informant interview research, writing, communications planning, editing, translation, graphic design, and desktop publishing.

“This is the kind of project that’s fun to do, where we can work with a great client, leverage our team of associates with complimentary skill sets, and carry out all the steps internally,” says Alder Group CEO Jean-Marc Dupont. “Bringing Team Canada hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser into the project as a spokesperson was the icing on the cake.”

“Grandparenting in the Twenty-First Century: The Times They Are A Changin’ ”—new article by Peggy Edwards published in the Ontario Health Promotion E-mail Bulletin

Peggy Edwards, Principal with The Alder Group, with her co-author Mary Jane Sterne, has published an article entitled “Grandparenting in the Twenty-First Century: The Times They Are A Changin’ ” in the Ontario Health Promotion E-mail Bulletin. The article covers the social and demographic changes that affect grandparenting today, grandparents raising grandchildren and AIDS orphans, the need for supportive policies and ten principles for effective grandparenting. It is accompanied by a list of resources (print, electronic and organizations). The article builds on and tailors some of the information in their recent book Intentional Grandparenting: A Boomer’s Guide.
